Yes. It's illegal but like that ever stopped certain kinds of people.

No. You don't need user names and passwords to create forged emails. I would *possibly* need someone's username and password to create emails that appeared to come from their account when carefully examined by someone with similar or greater experience than myself, but not to fool the average person, no. Utterly trivial.

Email was designed in a kinder gentler time and at its core is simply not built to be secure.

And the point, of course, is that email is not and can not be any kind of trusted delivery mechanism.

Hence the bank scams to change log in details! Half the banks you don't bank with! Surely doing stuff over the phone and te local coucnxil Wouk be simple hand to hand letter bonding with a signiture of receipt. Now adays postmeb seem to take anyones sig neighbours you might not know too well signing for your letters I don't think it's on :-0:-/
