A couple of points which have already been covered i know but worth saying. Firstly make some of the print larger, it is too small. Secondly you are too expensive, why sell 2nd hand for more thna brand new on Play and Amazon.
EDIT, just as a matter of interest put your title for the Jaws DVD into the ebay search and see how much other sellers are selling it for. I can get a brand new one from another seller for £4.79 including postage, why would anyone look at yours? Finally look at th eunsold ones as that gives an indication of how much one is likely to go for, yours won't make the highest figure ebcause you are new and there are a lot of cheaper brand new still sealed copies.
Also be aware that you may find yourself donating rather more than you thought to your charity, there is a minimum donation and you might want to just check out how much it is to ensure you don't lose money.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. I really liked...
- The YorTrend font and orange\black colouring.
- The framing you've created for your pictures
- The yellow used in the terms & conditions section.
- Stock photos for DVD listings are really (really) common. Everyone uses them so I wouldn't worry. (Having said that I'm not so sure that yours is a stock photo)
Probably worth thinking about...
Apart from what others have said about sales price\postage\returns policy etc. it's also worth thinking about...
- Cutting down the lenght of the descripton... big time. Films like Jaws are iconic movies and don't need more than a few lines e.g:I would use less than that! You honestly don't need much more, unless elaborating on the 30th anniversary. Are they sold out or rare for example? I sold a couple of boxsets of "24" a couple of weeks ago at a good price with a)stock photo b)three line description c) good pics as it was a used item. You are currently bidding on the 2 Disc Special Edition of Jaws.
Re-released to celebrate the 30th anniversary, this is your chance to place Jaws firmly into your DVD collection.
You have made use of Ebays item specifics and detailed item info but it is more or less repeated in the first section of the description. Not needed. I'd just get to the point.
- Changing the text size. I found myself just scrolling past it. (When I actually took the time to read it I realised it was a continuation of the sales pitch and actually not really needed.)
- Making it clear to the buyer if it is a new or used item. The ebay specifics say "Used" but the description says "New". Also the description explains why it is new. There's no need for this. So what if it's been sitting in your cupboard. A new item is a new item. I wouldn't worry about this at all.
As someone kindly pointed out... you've spent a lot of time on this and i think you've done a really good job. I think you can get an even better ad with half of the information.
You're very nearly there. Good luck!Snootchie Bootchies!0 -
Just a quick thank you for everyones who replied. Its been good to get a mixture of both positive and negative feedback regarding the listings. I will take on board what people have said.
Just to answer a couple of points people have raised,
* The photos for Jaws and Dances With Wolves arn't stock photos. They are ones I've taken myself and edited to put in the drop shadow.
* The layout isnt a template, its one I created myself from scratch.
* Its the first time i've listed anything abroard so still on a learning curve.
* Still experimenting with postage costs. Trying to keep it to first class due to keeping the speed as fast as possible. Thought people would see first class as more professional.
* Tried to give people as much information as possible and suppose I may have gone alittle overboard and given them to much info.
So thanks again for everyones input

Your photos may not be stock photos but they look like stock photos this will put people off. You need photos of the front back and inside of the case as this is a used item.
People don't really see 1st class as more professional. They just want value for money
Just to say noticed something else. have an 11.30 pm finish time on a Monday is a terrible finish time.
I'm afraid unless your prices are reduced you will not sell them or you will just sell them at the start price and will have wasted your listing fee. As has been said why pay your prices when you can get new versions from Amazon and play and even other sellers a lot cheaper.
N>B no matter what you really need to take out the line about refusing returns due to them being media. Not only unenforcable but asking for problems0 -

I'd take the drop shadow out. It's good to have clear, professional looking photos (which you have) but you don't want them to look like stock photos - as people have said people want to see a pic of the *actual* item, particularly if it's used. Yours look so professional they look like stock pics

How about offering people the choice? Set 2nd as the default option for search results, but give the option for 1st for those who want it. I know I always appreciate being given the choice

The best finishing time for a listing is on a Sunday afternoon (except when World Cup is on).
You did a good job of designing your own template. I never worked-out how to do it. As for the photos, just state in your listings that the photo is of the actual item.
If your template is something that you can easily use over and over again, just add line in the postage part stating all items are shipped via Royal Mail Recorded Delivery, it does put-off scammers, as it leaves a trail right to their front door.Never Knowingly Understood.

just a quick word about stock photos for DVD's for anyone else passing through.
this applies to DVD sales:
- a stock photo for the gallery picture is extremely common. ebay supply a stock photo in the item specifics and lots of sellers use it in listings.
- having said that, your own photo is always better both as the gallery picture and in the main body of the pic.
- For used DVD's, buyers want to know if the disc and box are in good, excellent or mint condition. So...- describe your DVD honestly and well in your auction
- show a good quality pic of the front and inside (check out completed listings of the same item to see how it sold.). you can of course take a pic of the back but it's not something i've come across that often.
- use descriptors like "Collectors Item" or "Rare" in the title. Repeat it in the description. You can also use "Not a copy" in the description. It's surprising how little stuff like this can secure a sale

I see from the back cover the set has Special Features, I'd list them instead of the small prints.
Also, at the top, the "Actors:... Directors..." bit is not centered with the rest of the text.
I like the drop shadow in the images, as someone else said, I would leave them and add "Pics of the actual item on sale", perhaps use photobucket and add a click-on blowup image so people can see the details. If you are a computer guy you probably treat your media nicely, I'd rather buy a DVD from you than from housewives with ricekrispies fingerprints...

Hi
I dont want to re-cover what everyone else has said but please remove that refund section it is pointless and irrelevant and as a buyer irks me. It would make me think that you don't know your responsibilities as a seller.
Also the postage you have noted in your listing is not the same as in the actual postage section. (please note I only checked the Jaws listing)0 -
Good point about accurate descriptions. If selling a DVD, and it has been re-surfaced to remove scratches, then say-so. Avoids an 'INAD' dispute and neg f/b.
There is a good article on Hubpages about listing stuff on auction sites. It is worth checking-out.Never Knowingly Understood.
