currys 0% finance 12 months, they gave me all the paper work!

Options
ok, bear with me as although I'm a big Martin fan this is my first post.

So my partner and I went to Currys 2 weeks ago and spent £1400 on their 0% finance to be paid within a year or start paying interest. Paying it off is not a problem and it will be done before the 12 months are up, however, on returning from holiday I had a letter from the MD of the Currys store asking us to call re our credit agreement.

It appears that the person who dealt with our finance gave us ALL of the copies of the finance agreement and they don't have any signatures.

The guy I spoke to was as nice as pie, and was bending over backwards to get us to send in the paper work, but my question is if they don't have any copies of the agreement then is it still valid?? do we still have to pay?

I know the right thing to do is to send it back to him, but I thought that I'd check it out first.

Many thanks

Yes, you do have to pay. Failure to do so by trying to take advantage of a genuine mistake that you are now fully aware of is as good as theft.

Google 'unjust enrichment' for more info.
  • I thought so, and I'm also a big believer in what goes around comes around, so it would have got the better of me anyway, but I had to ask the question :-)
    thanks

Yet you would still consider stealing £1400 of goods if you could get away with it?

    I mean, why ask otherwise.

    Jesus.
  • I would have wondered that doesn't mean that I wouldn't have sent the paper work off anyway- wouldn't you? I didn't know who to ask, hence the post.

 Maybe the OP just wanted some advise

Is he responsible for re-turning the forms at his expense, petrol? recorded delivery.

Seems a fair question when had it been the other way round you'd probably have to pay for copies.

I thought the Dixons Group was no longer offering credit facilities?

They only stopped offering credit on a temporary basis.

I am sure 'Martin' now loves this association with not paying debts off...

If it was me I would send them the forms back and pay as normal but tell them you want the money for petrol or postage etc seems only fair really....
