Anyone heard of/used Home Solicitors in Manchester??

Hi all

we are currently awaiting to exchange on a property. The first time buyers put their offer in 13 1/2 weeks ago and are still not ready to exchange!
They are using a conveyancing co. called Home Solicitors LLP based in Manchester ( the FTB's are based in Leics).

The solicitor is so unhelpful, wont return calls to other solicitors in chain etc etc

just wandered if we are just unlucky or if this is typical behaviour of this firm?

thanks x

Ask the FTBs direct, or failing that, the estate agents, what the hold up is.

As a retired conveyancing solicitor I believe the information given in the post to be useful assuming any properties concerned are in England/Wales but I accept no liability for it.

They were an offshoot of people who left Wolstenholmes (see massive thread under Mortgages & Endowments)

Seem to use the same business model and give customers the same bad service, take money upfront then do nothing. (Wolstenholmes had an intrevention by the SRA in Dec and then went into administration)

Estate agent selling the house cannot contact solicitor as they will not speak with them - the first time buyers have been advised by these solicitors to only talk to them!

    its a nightmare!

You must not be drawn in by the cheap prices the advertise - you will end up losing your deposit when you face no other option other than changing to a reputable firm once you realise they are USELESS!

Read the reviews on the review website "ciao" - dreadful. I faced the same appalling "service". They are also working under the name of "Conveyancing expert"............funny how the same team feel the need to "practice" (ahem) under 2 names. It is true that they were formerly Wulstenhulmes before being closed down for incompetancy.

You'll also find all firms connected with these people are on "Solicitors from Hell" website. The CEO (text removed from MSE Forum Team) are both rude, ignorant and totally incompetent individuals. I advise anybody whose fiasco with them is under 6 months old to report them to the Legal Complaints service - the sooner they are not allowed to practice the better.
  • I started using them for my purchase because they were cheap. You get what you pay for- after 2 weeks of total incompetence I cancelled with th and found some decent solicitors.
