Nope, so we don't need anyone causing a squabble over it.. Different people have different priorities.. given my childrens disabilities mine are possibly slightly different to other peoples, the same as many of your priorities are different given your disabilities...

and we have all moved on now.. had you not noticed? We are on biscuits and bargains!! MUCH more interesting a subject. :D

Taking half a sentence out of context is what causes half the problems on here..

    I've been Money Tipped!
Blimey - didn't post for a dissemination of where my child benefit goes, my spending priorities or our budget.

Just wanted to be helpful and warn other parents to not buy velcro M+S girls shoes.

From the post above, it seems mine isn't a lone experience.

So I repeat, don't buy them

I was not impressed by the quality of shoes from M&S, the heels wore down very quickly and like you, we had problems with velcro.

Id love to know what Brantano you all go to, our local one does not stock Clarks, just the cheapy plastic 'leather' shoes that cost £20 in there, £10 elsewhere and Hush Puppies at full RRP!

I have found ALL shoes for children to be of questionable quality. The girls' ones are too thin and easily slip off, they don't seem to make buckle shoes any more in favour of rubbish velcro or they are too dressy and not suitable for school, and the boys' velcro ALWAYS wears off. Personally I would only buy shoes as and when they are needed so that if necessary they can be taken back in good time. For example my son needed some new shoes about 3 weeks ago so my mum bought a pair from Sainsburys. They lasted 3 weeks - all the front split. They happily exchanged them for another pair, which seemed to be better quality, but only time will tell.

My Local Brantano's often have sales and the Hush Puppies are usually in the sale as I get Hush Puppies for my 2 DD's in there otherwise I use clarks. If you sign up to the Brantano's email's they are good at letting you know of upcoming sales:D

High street shops in my experience are just cheaply made shoes M+S seem to have lowered the quality standards that they used to have.

I must admit to having very similar opinions on school shoes as pigpen mainly because my children have had/got problems with there feet and it is important to look after them DS has to wear Piedro Boots as without them he is a real Jelly and wobbles everywere!!

Sorry for the digression OP but it kind of went...you not impressed with these M and S shoes...are M and S shoes really better quality.....are Clarks etc better....can some people afford Clarks every time (or do like you and get M and S, for example, on 3 for 2)....is child benefit meant for shoes etc, or other stuff......depends on what overall budget is.....
LOL It was just a progression, all relevant overall, perhaps not to you specifically!

I try to buy good quality measured shoes everytime for the kids, but now with 4 kids costs are going up.
We have a brantano near us which is good and they will measure and fit the shoes for you. DD1 wanted some she saw that weren't clarks startrite, but seemed pretty substantial for around £15 so she had them and some trianers. DS was in a half size and has narrow feet so ended up paying more for some hush puppies as they were the best to fit him (cost about £30).
Depending on were you are in the country worth seeing if there is a clarks/kays shoe factory shop near you. There is one not far from us near blackpool (so we do it as a day out with the kids), or we have a ride up to the factory shop at kendal (only worth it if we all need shoes-but adds up if hubby-size 11 and insists on leather shoes for work, and I plus the kids all need shoes and trainers) mind you we see it as a day out and take a picnic and spend the day in kendal/ the lakes.

But agree about M&S shoes not better than the other stores cheapy shoes. Sons hush puppies are getting a bit tight, but if he can't manage not worth getting a decent pair for the last few weeks so will get him measured in clarks/brantano and get a cheap pair elsewhere.
