Its the worry of losing the IB and DLA for those with mental health problems that makes matters worse. The previous medicals I have had for IB have been totally useless for my condition...none of the questionaire covers mental health issues in any relevant depth...how you are on the day of a medical bears no resemblance to how bad you can get and I was advised that when you fill out the questionaire you complete it detailing the worse case scenario and how you are restricted etc on a "bad" day....Im sick to death of these idiots targeting people who make these claims due to genuine ill health and not idleness as is sometimes inferred...a comment on one of my medicals was that the fact I looked ok (ie fully dressed and washed) I obviously was ok..total joke! Maybe I should have worn a bandage round my head and not washed for a week! I too have been pensioned off from my career because of ill health and I resent being hauled over the coals like this being made to feel like im some kind of con artist fiddling the Government out of a few quid..my IB is reduced because I get a small pension and I am taxed on it too!
Why they dont sort out the REAL frauds who claim income support etc and yet still manage to go boozing, smoke, have wide screen tellys and go on a nice all inclusive holiday every year....gggrrrrrrrr!!!!!

OK, Fine.... I tell you what....

Why don't we just dole out £100's every week to every Tom, !!!!!!, & Ethel who says they are too ill to be able to support themselves. No tests, no assessments which might upset them, We'll just tax everyone at a rate of 85% or more to afford it.

This is the real world. The government doesn't have an endless pot of money to give out, no matter how deserving an individual may be.

If we are going to make any benefits available to anyone, they have to be tested to make sure they meet the criteria. Now, no testing process will be perfect. There will always be some who can cheat, and some who can't be correctly assessed, because life is like that.
I try not to get too stressed out on the forum. I won't argue, i'll just leave a thread if you don't like what I say. :)

Actually, I think you will find that was the previous govt, who put us in this situation anyway.

Well the "thieving" MPs were from all parties, and the Conservatives were not exactly howling for more controls on the banks.

They have plenty when it suits themselves to give to the banks and their war effort. Not to mention the MP SCROUNGERS.
Also they can still give billions of aid to overseas and the EU. Its disgusting the way they treat the population with utter contempt.
If this was France there would be riots.

Just because you were able to work through your depression, doesn't man others can. I currently know someone who has spent most of this year in hospital. Soon, she will move to a care home because she's that ill.

Exactly. My post that you quoted earlier blue monkey was written with what you had previously said in mind. Just because you had an experience of depression does not mean you have any authority to judge anyone elses experience which may have been worse, or harder for them personally to deal with.

I'll add that i recieve DLA not soley for depression, but other mental and physical conditions too, but i don't judge those who soley get it for depression as i know how truly incapacitating it can be.

I think you will find it wasn't just their fault.
Obviously your growling at people hindered your economics reading.

İ am sure the Conservatives who now govern us had plenty of fingers in the pie of the banks with directorships or their contributors. i think about all the government are millionaires without their current snowts in the troth(sp) and dont tell me they have worked or will work til they are 70 or seen the inside of a nhs hospital -off my shop box
these people are so far removed from the masses that picking on soft targets like the ill probably gives them pleasure--well it will make their supporters happy!! --why dont they punish the pensioners because on the stastics they are the people with the most disposable income and contribute little to the public purse and take most--i will never make a politician but hey ho who cares--im mad!!
