Just to say I know how you feel, I have suffered from depression and anxiety; my husband took early retirement from teaching because of it.
Get your claim in for IB, get your mum to phone your employers. While she's on the phone, it wouldn't hurt for her to tell then that if they want to contact you it must be only by letter.
Do you have an occupational health unit at your workplace? My husband and myself found them quite helpful - in my husband's case it was 'no he's not well enough to work' (so he wasn't hassled) , in mine I was offered some counselling as my problems on this occasion had all stemmed from an identifiable event. We didn't have to see anyone else at the workplace, only the OH nurse.
Wishing you well.(AKA HRH_MUngo)

Thank you to everyone for their advise. Mum has phoned my employers after being passed from pillar to post finally spoke to someone who has said they will talk to their boss on Monday to see about sending form SSP1 out. Mum said they didn't seem very organised one person she spoke to even said I had left in January mum put tehm right. We do have occupational health and when i was off in 2004 they came to see me but this time no contact from them whatsoever. I am seeing a CPN and psychiatrist so am getting lots of support.
Regards

hi ya alex,
had similar problems to your own, but did get an SSP1 form but didnt know what to do with it!
eventually got round to claiming Incapacity benefit but you can only claim back for any benefit due for upto 3 months previously from the date of claim, so my advice is not to delay in your claim. i left it 6 months before i finally got a claim in because i was in a confused state, so lost 3 months of backdated benefits.
either claim online as mentioned at
http://www.direct.gov.uk/Diol1/DoItOnline/DoItOnlineArticles/fs/en?CONTENT_ID=4017626&chk=B7Fofn
or phone them up and get a claim form sent out to you. your claim will be from the date your employer stops paying you full Statutory sick pay.
good luck with everything. jim0 -

Hi all
just wondered if anyone can help me .I have been off work since May with SLE which I have had for many years.I had an appt with the Occupational health doc at beg Aug and he was very dismissive of me when subject of ill health retirement came up saying I was too young at 51 and probably would be OK in a few weeks. Anyway I am not and my consultant has sent him a report stating that he thinks I should be given the opportunity to retire.I am now wondering what attitude this OH doc will have at my next appt in Oct. I am not too confident but unfortunately I have to rely on him to compile and submit my application to the pensions board. My friends say I am being too pessimistic but has anyone applied for IH Retirement got turned down even after an appeal and then had to return to their job.I would find this very difficult to cope with but would feel forced into doing this as IB would not provide me with enough to cover my expenses or give me as much as my IH pension .Thanks for any thoughts on this.0
