Flooring preference ????

Options
I'm in the process of obtaining quotes for modernising my house. Needs total modernisation, new kitchen, new windows etc. Trying to firgure out the costs before i re-mortgage next year. Will be doing most of the work myself to save money.

I can't decide on what type of flooring would be best for a conservetory

The upstairs/stairs/living room will be the usual beige/neutral carpet

I would like to have a tiled floor in the kitchen/diner, though this might be on the cold side.

The only access to the garden from the house would be via the conservetory, through the kitchen.

Now i can't decide weather to laminate the conservetory, to tile it or even carpet it. The main use of the conservetory would be as a second living room.

Just wondered what peoples general opinion was

Many thanks

Nother vote for Karndean here. I've had it in two kitchens, both leading out to the garden, and it's excellent. First one I had still looked like new after 8 years. https://www.karndean.com. Ask for a catalogue, and they'll tell you where your local retailers are too.

My conservatory is tiled and it works great.
If you are going for any fancy designs then try to decide where everything will go.
The tile shop guy told me that he is amazed how often people pay big money for really fancy tiles to break up the pattern of 'ordinary' tiles and then cover them with mats and chairs

  • Im a tiler and I would definatley recomend you have the floor tiled. In addition to the tiles you could have underfloor heating. The good stuff is called Devimat but the products from wickes are just as good. Expect to pay £25 per M2 for a professional to tile. The beauty with the underfloor heating is that its always on and only costs 1p an hour to run.
Coolagarry. Im from Burton on Trent, Which shop did you get your advice from?

I'm a stone wholesaler, so I'm completely biased as I ended up in this business because I like the products so much.

About 70% of what we supply now goes onto floors with underfloor heating.
