House prices will accordingly crash, as BTL is being subsidised by LHA.

Which will mean Hamish will have a coronary.

Which may mean less aberdeen based [STRIKE]postings[/STRIKE] ravings.

The new limits are £1100 a month for a one bed, or £1700 a month for a 4 bed.

You could probably count the number of areas in the UK where benefits claimants get this much on one hand.

    Total non-issue.

Not sure, think you can rent a 4 bed in Aberdeen for about 50p per week inc utilities and broadband.

You've obviously never been to Aberdeen then. It's just as cheap buying up here than it is renting.

Typical 2 bed rent around £750-£850pm. Go into the majority of other cities and this figure is more like £500-£600pm

In my area the cheapest rental for a three bed house, looking on Rightmove is £1500 per month. So looks like the shortfall will have to be made up from somewhere!

    AMD

    well £340 x 52 / 12 = £1,473.33, so assuming a £27/month discount can be negotiated...

Hamish, Aberdeen highest is £1200pm so still £500pm shorter than the maximum.

Saying that, I would imagine there are quite a few areas in the south where LHA currently exceeds £1700pm

Indeed. Nowhere in Scotland will be impacted, from what I can see.

Perhaps a few areas in theSouth East, but overall a total non-issue.

Been reading document and came across this:

From April 2011, Local Housing Allowance Rates will be capped at £250 per week for a one bedroom property, £290 per week for a two bedroom property, £340 per week for a three bedroom property and £400 per week for four bedrooms or more.

    Is this big change? :)

I don't see it really since it still mean £1000 per month for a one bedroom property, £1160 per month for a two bedroom property, £1360 per month for a three bedroom property and £1600 per month for four bedrooms or more. Yikes!

Huge change for anyone hoping to get a rental in anywhere nice in London - it means Zone 3 or beyond, chaps!

(Gasps! Those poor benefit claimants having to get public transport to work... Oh hang on, they don't go to work... )

And if you are on DLA, don't expect it for much longer if you can do any job at all.

    Indeed, from reading the notes:

It is assumed that existing claimants would be reassessed over three years, with 25 per cent of the caseload reassessed in the first year, 75 per cent by the end of the second year and 100 per cent by the end of the third year.

Drawing on the evidence of the impact of the WCA, the central assumption for this policy is that it will result in a 20 per cent reduction in caseload and expenditure once fully rolled out

    Hmm...
