Just got my 1/2 year statement and noticed that my Gas Standing Charge has changed from 15p a day to 50.9p!
Anyone else on N Power Online 14 Tariff?
I thought they had to tell us they'd put up our price?

If you have just been notified of the price change you can choose to switch to a different supplier and Npower will honour the original price - tell them you reject the new prices within ten days. Of course, watch out for your loss of the £105 annual discount.
They have until three months after the price increase to tell of the change - make sure the change date isn't earlier than that.
Also make sure that your useage is low enough for the price change to be a problem - they may well have decreased unit prices such that the difference for you is trivial (particularly after this winter) - it may be sensible to wait for the annual discount if you are a dual fuel customer.
Plus, of course, their electricity standing charge is only tuppence-ha'penny per day!0 -
The bill shows that the price change was 40 days ago. As they show two difference figures for the standing charges.
I also told them on the phone that our original NPower tarrif had no standing charges and why were these added when we changed to Online 14 but got no response to this question.
Thanks for the advise. i'll phone them back and say I'm rejecting the price increase.0 -
Hi, if your standing charge has gone up then your tariff may had gone down. Cheeck both before making switiching. You should have received a letter informing you of any new prices. This seems odd as there have been no price increases in the last month or so. Have you been on a fixed deal that has finished if so ask to be moved to their best deal.
Good luck ,hope this helps0 -
I'm SO 16 and have not been informed of any price/tarrif changes.Self confessed nerd when it comes to anything financial and/or numerical! :cool:0

Sign online 14 changed on May 1st to a tariff which equates to their standard tariff. You should have had a letter informing you of this several weeks before, I did, and so did many others on here, perhaps yours was lost. There were also many threads about the price increase at the time.
Standard tariff prices are unlikely to be the best deal for you, but if you phone them they will switch you to whatever their best deal is at the moment. However, I left them altogether, finding my current cheapest deal on uswitch.
Count yourself lucky your gas s/c is 50.9p/day, they put mine at 74p/day!0 -
Hi G51shopaholic,
You should have received a letter from us informing you about change to your internet tariff - Sign Online 14? I'm sorry if this is the first time you have heard about it.
The increase in charges was brought about by a change in the regulatory rules around pricing, in particular that discounted or introductory rates, for example for online products, could no longer be offered on an indefinite basis and had to be time limited.
Consequently we have had to align a range of previously offered online products to our standard rates, they having lasted for longer than what guidelines indicated was an acceptable time limited period.
We wrote to customers at the time to let then know this and also to say that they were free to choose a new rate if they wanted to.
Either give us a call on 08451 201 453 or look on www.npower.com to check other rates, which will be more beneficial.
Kind Regards,
Sally
