I just found this & the figures for my family were currently very accurate. It may help some of you, too & at least have some clarity of how things will change depending on your situation in real terms.

I work in the public sector so will be getting a pay freeze
I have a child and have a family income of £48k so will loose child tax credits.
I have a baby on the way so will lose out on the extra money in the first year.
Im alive so will lose out with VAT increase.
BUT..... I think I am happy with this budget and beleive this will get our coutry back on track. :j
You are being far too sensible, stop it this instant!!!!!!!It's someone else's fault.0 -

HB payments in this country are a drain on resources. In my view, he hasn't gone far enough and should abolish HB payments all together.
Just out of curiosity how is someone who is disabled supposed to live if they have housing benefit taken away?0 -
One thing that I hoped would have been addressed but hasn't is the 'funding' for children from age 3 for 15hrs of nursery care/education each week, which sounds great on paper until you realise that those 15hrs cant be taken as two seperate whole-day sessions, or anything remotely resembling anything that could allow the mother to go to work - the 15hrs are worked out as five 2 1/2 hour sessions, one per day, which is totally and utterly useless when it comes to helping the mother back into work, and so therefore a complete waste of public money.
Unless you are lucky enough to have someone to drop off and pick up your child, these hours only go towards lowering the childcare bill or as some 'free time' for the mother - there are countless single mothers at my childs' pre-school who take their children there every day then go back to their paid-for flats to watch Jeremy Kyle etc...don't they realise how precious these pre-school days are? My child only goes twice a week as I'd much rather we spent the rest of the time together.
The age threshold has just been lowered to two and a half so even more money is wasted - why can't they make it just one whole day session, or something that would actually be of some use to people like me who would love a job but cannot find one with suitable hours to work around my child (and because we are living together my partner and I aren't entitled to anything - I would rather go without treats and enjoy being with my child).
Am disappointed that this child care provision is never addressed.
i'm sorry but ur post has really got me mad, for a start alot nursery's that 3 years start to go to are not there just for the mother to go back to work and to help them out with the daycare but are there to help to start to the childs education and to help get the child ready for school.
i'm not a single parent but i do not work at the moment due to the fact i have 2 young children one at nursery and the other 1 under 2.
alot of people including myself do not agree with a child of 3 going to nursery as they would get to tired as half a day is enough for them at that age and also if u did want ur child to go 2 full days alot of day nurserys do offer it its just a case of looking around for it

Just curious (sorry can't wade thro the directgov stuff - only 3 hours sleep last night and @ docs when the budget was on radio) - will they be assessing ALL IB etc claimants come Oct or just IB? And when exactly does this DLA rule come into place...
I disagree about the DLA test weeding out scroungers in that my illness is hidden, not obvious (asides from my scars) and dangerous. I can be well...then dip suddenly under stress et al and need near enough 24 hr care (DLA pays for phone and net currently - that's my care...has been for the last 10+years and some sort of food cos when I get sick everything gets neglected - showering, eating, sleeping the whole shabang!). Hospital beds are being cut back...how am to survive?
Also ESA is really hard to get even with a diagnosis and I've heard of scare stories of ppl ODing cos they were told they were fit to work with psychosis when quite clearly they were not....
It's all very well having these back to work programmes for the disabled but without the recovery programmes to go along side and the jobs ppl aren't simply going to be fit for work! (I have multiple mental illnesses btw. I'm a survivor...it's my choice). Do you guys who scoff and rant abuse know how hard it is to get on a recovery programme? Even for something as common as depression? They're like gold dust! And yet without these there is no hope of anything but euthansia by the back door..

Hmm well missed the budget as was working but have read all 7 pages and have to say i am very confused over parts!
We currently get the minimum tax credits of £10..? a week and that is great..but as of the last 6 weeks my income has gone up a lot so we are now on (will double check) around the £45k mark per year, does that affect us or is it the child element? it's not that i am greedy but i am scared of tax redits doing thier usual 'we ahve overpaid you' lark and us ending up owing loads..id'e rather not have it tbh!
the income tax i had heard was going to rise to 10k per year..have i just read rightly it will go up by £1k so about £7k? apologies if not..when does this happen?
I agree with the baby payments being a one off..i agree with the DLA being checked as to who should be on it, i agree with most of it tbh! this country need to stop giving out money to people who can't be bothered to work for it.0 -
Your £10 a week will probably stop, but you might get a smaller amount, not sure.
tax codes will rise by 1k in april but the planned 10k won't be for a few years yet.52% tight0
