Eon joint account?
Morbid question maybe?
I have recently retired and all my married life I have dealt with the bills, all in my name only.
My wife has got it into her head that all the bills should be in our joint names because her sister had problems with bills when her husband passed away.
What do other people think?
To the Eon rep how easy is it to change an account from my name to joint names or from my name to, in the event of me going, to my wife's name?

Hi Marcus
It's very easy to put your account into joint names. All we need is the consent of both you and your wife. The account can be changed in seconds.
For joint accounts where a bereavement is suffered, we remove the name of the person who has passed away leaving the surviving partner as solely liable. Again, this is a quick and easy process.
However, it's a bit different where the account is in one name and the account holder passes away. Here, we would need sight of the death certificate and the agreement of the surviving partner that they will take over responsibility for the bills.
Hope this is clear Marcus. Give me a shout if you need any more info. Alternatively, drop an email to the address in my Profile if you would like me to make any changes for you.

Yes, that is the problem her sister had (NOT from Eon I might add but I have no idea how Eon would handle it) they were also in debit and she had to pay that back first then the direct debit was set too high.
Can it be done online?

Hi Marcus
Certain changes can be done online but they only represent a partial amendment. To make sure the account is comprehensively upgraded it is best to talk to us.
Have your wife with you so DPA can be satisfied and the account will be changed whilst you are on the phone.
As I said earlier, let me know your details if you would like me to sort this out for you. Will be happy to do so.
