I recently purchased a platinuim engagement setting from the USA, i had a diamond already to be set, the ring turned up perfect ( had been cast especially for me ), i took it along to my local H M Samuel, i was quoted £132 for the diamond to be mounted in the 4 claw setting already on the ring, a high price but i wanted it done, i agreed and it was sent away, however 1 week later it returned and i went to pick it up, on inspection there was at least 6-8 small marks on the ring band like dints, i told the staff this was not right as i wanted the ring perfect, like when i first took it into the store, they agreed to re-send away so i could get it back last week, i went along again and there was still 2 marks on the band and the polishing looked iffy. I told this store staff again this is not right and they all just went quiet, told them to get it sent away again and get it perfect, my plan had been to propose that weekend as well so i had to delay those plans, however they are polishing the ring to remove the marks, polishing is only done by finely removing metal, in this case platinium. I am at my wits end now and the ring should be back again this week. Would i be in my rights to ask for my money back when its finally done or money off the initial cost, seeing as they have in effect marked the ring.
Really feel like blowing up at the staff in there or the people who do the repairs as it has been a joke all along, the staff are happy enough to deal and talk when taking the money however when something goes wrong they just all stand there with a glum look on their faces being mute.
