Seller didn't pay full postage so now I have to pay.

I've been waiting for something to come off ebay, and have just had a slip through my door saying it cant be delivered because the seller didnt pay full postage, and now I have to pay £1.51 (51p plus £1 handling fee) to get it!

I'd like to have a refund for that amount from the seller, but how would I go about proving it? Would I have to send them a message with a scanned attachment of the slip, or should I contact paypal or ebay?

Any help is appreciated.

Why would you contact Ebay or Paypal without giving them a chance to sort it out first?
Email the seller explain what has happened and what you've paid see what they say - Im sure they will refund you without even seeing sight of the receipt but I dont think there is anything worse than a buyer filing a dispute without contacting a seller first - its probably a genuine mistake - but if you hear nothing back in a fair amount of time then contact ebay or paypal.

I didn't say I'd contact ebay without giving them a chance to sort it out first, i was just asking what to do for if they didn't reply or didn't believe me etc. And even if they did believe me, I might have to send evidence into ebay or something? Just covering all bases.

There is no dispute you can open that will get the undercharge back. I'd contact the seller before you pick the item up and see what they say If its an experienced seller they will refund with no problem. Less experienced you may have a bit of a fight on your hand.

You might want to scan the slip into pdf and send a copy with your email to the seller - it might help your case.

This happened to me once, I sent a bunch of items via the Post Office and unbeknownst to me at the time the wrong postage was placed on all of them so my buyers had to fork out the extra to collect them from the sorting office. Luckily all of my buyers were understanding and I refunded them in full plus a little extra for their time.

I've just sent off a message, have scanned the slip so will send it off if required. There'll still be a positive feedback for the seller if all goes well. I've sold a few things myself and know that sometimes mistakes just happen. I have my item which I'm pleased about. Thanks for all the advice :)
