Neighbours extension - parents property

Options
Hi folks,

My parents live in a semi-detached house and this year the neighbours started and completed an extension on their house. For the most part this work OK as the work was on the non-detached side of the house. As part of the extension the neighbours have had the house rough casted again and yesterday I noticed that their builder have actually removed and rough casted beyond the property line on to my parents house by about 10 cm.

We are on good terms with the neighbours but as you can imagine we are not happy about this, while in some peoples eyes this is not a huge deal I can see this being an issue in the future. If my parents were to rough cast their house they would need to chip away the "excess", if in doing that they neighbours side was damaged then they would expect it to be fixed. Also I am not sure about this but if my parents or the neighbours were to sell it could become an issue then.

Like I say we are on good terms with the neighbours and don't want to spoil that, at the sametime I am not happy about the situation and would like it rectified. Can anyone offer advice on how to approach this situation and what we can expect as an outcome?

Thanks.
amr

Point it out to the neighbours and ask them to get their builder back to rectify. If they refuse, or the builder says no, then you might need to escalate. But like you say, there is a good relationship, so ask for it to be fixed. Can't see a problem.

Just ask them if it was necessary to go across the border, as you were thinking of doing something similar and was worried about damaging their side when it came to doing it.
