Good Service from Post Office Mortgages

I'm also going through PO application - valuation is on Tuesday. I am interested in the LMS solicitor issue too, because although I put this down on the application for them to appoint, they phoned my husband today and asked who we were going to use??
We have just had a problem with Northern Rock undervaluing our house significantly, so hopefully the PO's valuation will be more reasonable!
We're also really impressed with their service so far0 -
Just an update on my application
I've received the letter from the post office which needs the last 3 month payslips from me and my partner.
I also received a letter from the selected solicitor... The only problem is that the solicitor letter says we are remortgaging the house we currently live in (which we rent)!! and the morgage deed with the letter from the bank of ireland is for this house as well.
I have no idea how they made that mistake as the post office letter is all correct.
Oh and the post office documents didn't come with a envelope / address to send them back too...
Argh, Oh well good things had to mess up somewhere - So looks like I've got to ring the Post Office on Monday and sort this out now
I will update when I give everyone a call on Monday.0 -
Always had a prepaid envelope to send stuff back in, in fact I've got spare ones as they sent me one with each seperate letter. Think the payslips request is standard as they asked for mine.
Jbsurrey - if you've had the valuation and sent the stuff back, expect a phonecall to tell you the result and the documents to follow shortly

Well I rang the post office this morning at 8:45 to explain whats went wrong.
I got a callback from my underwriter apologizing and advised she has corrected the mistake now with the LMS Solicitor.
She also said sorry for not putting in the prepaid envelopes - she must have forgot...
So back on track again0 -
I will vouch for post office... very efficient.. was worried about the process but has given me a lot of confidence, really pleasedPlan

Jocko,
They must have a very efficient system in place as I called this morning to see if they had received the documents and they detailed the whole list instantly... Very organised.
Valuation was done today and electronic confirmation will be sent tomorrow morning. Spoke with the surveyors who said that he felt the house was above value for what we paid, which is good as I was worrying about it being undervalued!
Hopefully I'll get a phone call or an update tomorrow... Trying to rush the solicitors on now.
What did you do after acceptance?
Thanks,
Jason0 -
They sent a mortgage offer which we needed to sign along with a satisfaction survey, I signed it and returned it and they confirmed receipt by text message, I assume that is everything in order now and nothing more to do

Well, received a phone call from the underwriter this morning saying that the valuation has come back and the mortgage has been approved - the forms are being sent to us today to sign.
Considering I applied late on a Saturday evening, the whole process took nine days… that's also taking into consideration that I only posted the required information back to them on Friday and they only received it yesterday…
Astonishingly quick.
I will let people know how this progresses - we're aiming to complete in July sometime...

I get the feeling they are not inundated with applications. It seems to me that they were getting back to me very quickly, as in they were waiting for the post to come in so they had some work to do. Don't think we ever got a phonecall much past 9am!

We used Post Office Mortgages just over a year ago and I was absolutely amazed by their speed and efficiency (especially compared to Abbey who we were with previously and found to be completely useless). The rate they offered at the time was better than our IFA could get too.
From what I recall we did the initial application on the Monday evening and got an immediate AIP, completed the full application on the Tuesday evening and then got a phone call Thursday to say that we had been approved and the valuer was booked for the Monday. They then phoned on the Tuesday to say that all was in order and we were fully approved - just needed to send proof of ID.
All done in eight days! Remarkable!0
