translink price hike

  • The day ticket price for the Metro remains the same for the peak times - £3.50, but it rises by 20p to £2.90 for the those buying at off-peak times (9.30 - 15.00), a rise of 7.4%.

So Translink are charging the people who want to/have to travel off-peak MORE!?! Good think there as always.

Yes I think it's particularly mean of them to do that.

They're obviously trying to force us into buying their multi-journey tickets, without even having the decency to advertise what these are, where you get them, how much they cost, how you use them and how long they are valid for.

And don't anybody say 'go to the website' - I want the information in plain English!:)

I have been having the unpleasant experience of getting the metro from the city centre into work this week as my car is at the garage :(. Thank god this is just temporary though - £3.40 a day is way over priced (for my journey anyway). I rarely get a seat, which is made even worse by the driving

Think the car will be out of action next week too so I may look into this Friday thing! Cheers

They are trying to do away with cash on the buses i reckon, cuts down on costs i suppose and the odd ££ going missing throughout the day or scum trying to steal the money.
They advertise the mj cards on all their buses and on the bus stops themselves usually.
Dont see what peoples gripe with their website is its very easy to navigate

https://www.translink.co.uk/MetroSmartlink.asp <--- all the info you need and the journeys are valid up to a year from purchase date and when you top up all remaining journeys on the card become valid for a year again
