Welcome to the New Eco Homes!
Remember if you are still living in an old style house. which by the way are really bad for the Enviroment and cause Global Warming! or is it Global Cooling? No No lets call it Climate Change! you will have to pay a Super Tax
Welcome to the New Green Age....
For example, page 33/71 of the PDF document above says that all new buildings have to be “nearly zero-energy buildings” by the end of 2020. It has to be true by the end of 2018 for all new buildings occupied by public authorities.
lol
wake up people

a serious question Asheron - why do we care what happens in 2018 and 2020 to property if by your own admission we're all going to be living in tents and trading gold or silver within the few years??Welcome to the New Eco Homes!

Having had a skim through the document (which is more than the Daily Mail will do if they hear about this) there seems to be little to be concerned about. AFAICS, a building that is well insulated with good sized windows and a couple of solar panels on the roof would meet the criteria laid down.0

The world's ending in 2012 so it's irrelevant. Don't you read the news?0

As usual it's a story posted with a deliberately misleading headline, but what more would you expect from the cut and paste expert and one of his favourite websites....Infocrap !!!
So basically the E.U. require all new build housing to meet Eco standards in 2020.
Wow.....major story :T
Are we supposed to be against the efficient use of energy resources 'In nature, there are neither rewards nor punishments - there are Consequences.'0 -
Supplies of Tin foil in Asherons local area must be at an all time low. What exactly are we supposed to be waking up to?
'New homes to be more eco freindly from 2020' shocker?
When the EU insists we bulldoze all non 'eco friendly' homes and start again from scratch then I may deign to crack an eye open.Go round the green binbags. Turn right at the mouldy George Elliot, forward, forward, and turn left....at the dead badger0 -
Link? Details?
Of course you may be paying more than double for your gas to heat the property...Remember if you are still living in an old style house. which by the way are really bad for the Enviroment and cause Global Warming! or is it Global Cooling? Seems excellently sensible to me. In fact, I think that housebuilders should be building eco friendly homes NOW. When we were planning to build we were certainly hoping o build something ''eco'' and attractive. I don't see why proper housebuilders shouldn't have the same goal.0

Most new homes are currently built to eco-home standards anyway.
Ours is rated excellent, we live in a fairly large house so why would we not want it to be energy efficient.
But it is a standard bricks and mortar house, people think eco-house and think of a a wood clad house with a grass roof.
Is it really a surprise, in america and the UK cars have been getting more economical too. Is anyone asking for the days of 18mpg 2 liter cars again??0 -

Only if we survive past 2012 'Just think for a moment what a prospect that is. A single market without barriers visible or invisible giving you direct and unhindered access to the purchasing power of over 300 million of the worlds wealthiest and most prosperous people' Margaret Thatcher0
