what shower bits are needed?

Options
Hi all, sorry if this is in the wrong forum but I've found a shower enclosure that I like. However when you add the pump etc. I don't know how it stacks up price wise with other offerings.

I'm going for a walk in shower, what exactly do i need?

So far as I understand it i need the following:
Shower screens
tray
shower pump
shower
pumped processor???? - i don't know what this is
waste - what is this?

(I know I'll need tiles for behind the shower but I can cope with this seperately)

It's a really nice shower enclosure and all in all comes to £1580 (it includes an aqualise digital shower, tray and I think it includes a pump) - but I see other options that cost £300 (not as nice) but these seem to just be the screens and so I don't know exactly how to do a like for like price comparison because I don't know the full list of things I need.

any help gratefully recieved, and apologies for a slightly cryptic, very vague question

Richard

a pump is not essential. (in most cases).
the waste system is anything under the tray. to connect to the drains.
    Get some gorm.

Whether you need a pump or not will depend on your hot water supply. Do you have mains pressure hot water? If so, then you don't need a pump. If not, then you will need a pump if you want a really powerful shower. Don't know what you've got? What happens when you turn the hot water tap on full? If it's the same pressure as the cold tap in the kitchen then you probably have mains pressure hot water. Anything less and it's probably gravity fed from a tank.

As I'm just in the process of renovating a shower room, here's how I see it:

    1) Shower enclosure. Make sure you get all you need - some people sell the door and side panels seperately.

    2) Shower tray to match #1

    3) Shower plumbing - I went for an Aquilisa Aquavalve 700 'cos they are solid and work really well. None of this digital rubbish! :D Also don't forget to order the shower hose/head bits which are sold seperately.

    4) You mention pump - as others have said it depends on whether you need one; in my last house I did as it was gravity fed HW. The current house has a pressurised unvented system so no pump required :)

    5) Don't forget the cost of tiling the walls etc!

I've found the following useful for discounted stuff - I have no connection with them, just a happy customer:
