Removing border tiles

Hello. We have a white tiled bathroom with blue border tiles running right through the middle all the way around the bathroom. This is what the previous owner put in. How easy would it be to take those border tiles out?? We don't want to start and then the surrounding white tiles start coming away. There is nothing wrong whatsoever with the white tiles, we just want to change the border tiles and the floor tiles.

Hope someone can help. Would hate to start removing them and then every single white tile around it starts cracking!!!

Thanks.

you could drill holes in them and remove them bit by bit. softly softly.

but there is still no guarantee that you wont break some white tiles.

all depends on who put them up?
i once stripped a complete bathroom of all the tiles. with a paint scraper!
god knows what they stuck them on with!

We did the exact same thing in our kitchen last year. The plain creamy tiles were fine but we had some inset decor tiles with little twee cottages on (handmade, and obviously expensive!) but they just had to go.

I used a Dremel with a circular cutting/grinding disk fitted (they do actually make a grout remover tool but I was feeling mean) and cut around all the edges of the offending tiles, to detach them from their neighbouring tiles. I must have smashed five cutting disks to remove 10 tiles. Wear eye protection. Anyway, it took me two afternoons to do, very VERY dusty job, my hands were shaking from holding the Dremel so carefully. I prised out 9 of the decor tiles and only cracked the very last one. eBay'ed them, naturally!

Would I attempt it again......? No. I have some border tiles in the bathroom whose days are numbered, but I think we'll ask our local tiler if he can do it for us.

Thanks for your replies. So you think a professional tiler would be able to do it no problem?? Thanks again.:j
