We have 2 fishtanks at the moment - one 200l, one 60l. We have had these (some smaller, sometimes 3) for the last 5-6 years and in that time we have rented 3 properties. No landlords had problems with them, but the ASTs had clauses about pets. We would always get a permission (oh, fishtanks are fine kind of answer) as soon as we asked. We also got a cat in the last property as we noticed a cat flap in the back door at the viewing (well, we are first people to rent the house and the owners lived here until few years ago and owed a dog an a cat). I love my cat and he is not bothered with the fishtanks at all.
