I have just bought a cheap new HP pc for £299. 80Gb hard drive 256mb memory 3.06Ghz .I have a query about windows Xp discs do pc manufacturers no longer provide XP discs incase something goes wrong.I was reading the literature that came with the pc and it said you should make your own recovery disc from the pc and "due to licensing restrictions" you are only allowed to make one recovery disc.Is this a usual thing with HewlettPackard or does noone provide recovery discs with a new Pc

It's fairly standard nowadays. Good advice that, creating a recovery disc. The xp side of things is in a hidden partition on your HDD.0

So when you create a recovery disc the xp part in the hidden partition is it all copied onto a recovery disc? .Also it suggests writing them onto dvd rather than cd.as i have no dvds and need to buy some how many dvds do you think i will need to buy for the recovery disc?0 -
