2 questions.

Bought a lap top battery from an ebay member, on auction it did say no warranty implied or given and no refund. Received the battery and it is completely dead!!! He/she sold a laptop with no battery couple of months ago. Is there anything I can do or am i stuffed.
2nd question bought parts for my phone paid immediately £7.99 postage on 24th Aug advised on auction 1-2 days delivery however no phone and no response to e-mail. Feedback on this person is somewhat varied but 98% pos some negs recently for non delivery and no response to e-mail or phone. How much longer do I wait and what can I do? Thanks in advance to any one who responds.

  • Regarding problem number 1 I would first of all contact the seller and explain that the battery is totally useless and you would like a refund. Did you pay via PayPal?

Regarding problem number 2 you should have received it by now. Did you notice on the auction listing if it mentioned that the seller was on holiday? If not then I would send the seller a message just asking as to whether the item has been posted. If you don't receive a response in a few days then I would possibly try getting the sellers contact details and calling them. Did you pay via PayPal? If so and all other means of contacing the seller have failed I would start a chargeback/dispute via PayPal to hopefully get your money back.

re no2, bearing in mind the 24th was a thursday, then it's been a bank holiday.
If you paid late thursday he may not have been able to get to the PO on friday, may have sent saturday and post is a little delayed due to the BH.

I bought something on the 24th I've not received yet, but i'm not worrying yet as technically it's only been 5 working days (inc today)
It's BOUGHT (to Buy), not BROUGHT (to bring) AND you cannot be frauded, only DEfrauded.

regarding item 1, what was the description?, better still, the item number?

if it didn't say 'working' and DID say 'no warranty' or something like 'untested' or 'sold as seen' then you really should have asked first

unfortunatley, clever wording and naivety on your part mean that it's a case of 'tough luck'

as for item 2, do a paypal chargeback after day 7, 1-2 days delivery should have been there by now, however, i suspect he's used first class recorded, which, with the bank holiday should really have been with you by now

  • Received item today so glad didn't have to open a dispute or anything. Not so happy with the fact that the seller did not respond to e-mails or telephone call so doubt I will deal with them again. I am thinking a positive but with a comment as to the non response or would a neutral be better? Any comments?

Item 2..............the post has been a bit up and down recently with new changes. You got the item within 8-9 days including a weekend.hardly worth making a song and dance about it. Have they left you feedback????????If so...and it's positive you should probably do the same...if they haven't then deffo don't neutral or neg them...cos they'll do a retaliatory feedback on you.

As to Item 1.............sounds to me like you're scuppered.....dunno why you even considered buying something that clearly says no refund, no warranty implied or given that it will work...... what would be your argument???

  • Has anybody noticed that he is charging VAT on all his items. I thought that there was no VAT on second hand goods ?

I was just thinking that as well. I didn't think there was VAT on 2nd hand good either.
  • With regard to the dead battery, have you noticed that he is selling all kinds of computer bits and pieces including computer servicing (170006008603)
Now it seems to me that anyone offering computer repairs/upgrades/servicing would have the ability to check a battery before selling it.
  • Hi mike thanks for that was kinda thinking that myself, at least I got it even if it was later than I was told.
As for other item that was my "better halfs" idea not such a good one as it turns out but for some reason he was desperate to buy it!!!! Turns out not to be such a great idea
