Kindertons Insurance Claim

Last year in April, I had parked my car, and while I was at work, someone scraped the back while parking. It was obvious that it was the car behind me, so i left a note. The woman phoned my up, and admitted that she had knocked it, but that it was ok to claim through her insurance to get it fixed. We swapped details and both informed our insurance companies. The same day, I received a call from Kindertons, who told me they were acting on behalf of the other party, and that they have sorted everything through their insurance. They told me to tell my insurance company to close the claim as i was going directly through the other party. They organised to get my car fixed, and as far as i was concerned, that was that. i threw away details of the other party, as I no longer needed these. About 2 months later, they started calling me again, saying that I need to send them a 'statement of truth' as the other party were now denying any involvement. I cannot do this, as i no longer have any details of the other party. They are threatening to claim the money back from me. I was wondering if anyone else has had any similar experiences, and whether they have a leg to stand on, given that they initially told me that they were acting on behalf of the other party (which i now believe was a lie)? Thanks!

But at the time if they acted on it surely the third party would of confirmed involvement before they dealt else they wouldn't of been able to proceed.... question them a bit further and say so are you really acting on behalf of the third party? Ask how they got your details, whether a garage or something passed it on as it's very rare for an accident management company to sort a claim for an insurance company especially if your the third party! (perhaps your own insurer would do this but rare for a third parties to do it!)
  • Thanks for that! I've just sent them an email, as it's impossible to get any sense out of them over the phone. I didn't really understand how claims worked before, as it's the first time I've ever had to make a claim. I have the feeling that they lied about acting on behalf of the other party's insurers. As you said, if they really were acting on behalf of the other party, they wouldn't be chasing me for details after making the repairs. I was hoping that they'd give up after a year of constantly calling me...

When you have a claim, tell your insurance company. Simples.
