I will suggest writing to the network and trying to explain she was doing her nursing degree and just could not afford to pay it... kinda true. Also, she actually thought she had paid it off, I suspect this money has originally grown from a 1 month cancellation notice, or money for the rest of the contract.

    Hiya

Maybe don't do this as that will not wash - it's not a viable excuse lol, an excuse is like "I was hospitalised after being hit by an ambulance".... :rotfl:

Will Lowell do anything? CCJ etc? if not, then she would probably rather just leave it I think. It is her only default on file and she is going NZ travelling for a couple of years, later this year, so I think she is more concerned about having to pay them.

I think they have caught up with her as ironically she registered my dads address on the electoral role to improve her credit rating (i told her to get on the electoral role lol - oops), so now the are writing to dads address. Previously she has moved about quite a lot.

Nah for the amount it is unlikely they will take much action, if any - plus she'd find out and would be able to stop the CCJ by paying within the month...... i'd say just ignore them and hope they go away but only she can decide if that is best or not....

    Good Luck :D

I agree - wait and see what they try to do.
If they write threatening a CCJ, she can then ask them to prove the debt is hers.
If they can't do that then they can't go to court.

If they do provide proof, by the time all this happens the debt may have become statute barred (2012). After this she could then write to the CRA's to get the default set to the correct date and tidy up her credit file. If they did try for a CCJ and were awarded it, she could pay it within 30 days as Niddy says and it would not get put on her credit file.
After falling off the gambling wagon (twice): £33,600 (24,000+ 9,600) - Original CC Debt: £7,885.91

    Dad Gift 6k ¦ Savings & Inv Tst: £2,500
    Loan 10k: £0 ¦ Dad 5.5k: £2,270 ¦ LTSB: £0 ¦ RBS: £0 ¦ Virgin £0 ¦ Egg £0

    Total Owed: £2,270 (+6k) 11/08/2011

She's been silly, but I just want to get the best outcome for her in the end, otherwise she would just leave it..! lol

Well funnily enough we're suggesting the best advice right now is to leave it, anyway

If she hears anything (threatening wise) then come back to us, otherwise just forget it for the time being.

letters will be sent to her dads though, being someone linked her to that address with the CRA's - :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: Its up to him to either store them or return with not known at this address.... ;)

Will he be affected by it? I don't think he'll be applying for any credit as such..

Thanks for the advice, I'll let her know what you all said, I'm sure she will be happy to leave it lol.

Maybe she should change the electoral role to her current rented place?

Your dad? God no! A credit record is linked to a person, NOT an address! It will only ever affect her and will move with her, if you create a link lol ;)

Nooo - if she adds another link to her true address then they will start hassling her there - its safer to let them write to her parents address cos its easy for you guys to say she doesn't live here and leave it at that, you're under no obligation to tell anyone where she lives - why would you? lol

Is this making sense now? It seems you're a little confuzzled with it all....? :rotfl: :rotfl:
