Boots (the chemist) sales staff not abiding by their own rules?

  • I don't really fancy going back to that particular store TBH. Maybe I'm over-reacting  but I suppose it just goes to show how unhelpful or poorly trained sales staff can drive customers away.

Like I said the amount of points this concerns is hardly worth the bother, but it was just the lady's attitude and the way, IMO, she tried to mislead me.

@carolpinkdreamer. Do certain Boots stores operate a bonus or commission pay scheme for staff? I'm just wondering because the staff at this particular branch always seem to be slightly peeved if you produce a coupon or take advantage of a special offer.

No they don't. I think a lot of Boots stores have had staff cut back to the bare minimum now and all members of staff are stressed at the amount of extra jobs they are expected to complete in very little time. Having said that, it's no good taking it out on the customer. As I said I worked within Boots for over 20 years and I always thought the best bit was helping customers and being polite and friendly. It was the behind the scenes sh*t I don't miss!
  • Thanks for the info Carol.

    Update

I wrote to Boots Customer Care (head office) asking for clarification over the T&Cs.

Their response was that two coupons could NOT be used together. The customer care officer reminded me to not try to use both coupons next time I visited a store, which I thought was a bit superfluous and perhaps a little suspect.

I went to another Boots store and again spent over £45. I thought I would test out how accurate customer care were, with their advice, so I handed over both coupons to the sales assistant.

Guess what? No surprise that I WAS able to use both coupons together and this showed up on my receipt with both offer points and double points awarded!

This leads me to question why Boots customer care gave advice that was clearly incorrect? Hmmmm

It's a fairly common restriction that offers can't be used in conjunction with other offers. The fact that you managed to do so once doesn't mean you 'are in the right'!

I've always used both those type's of vouchers when I received them in the mailings sent out by boots. In fact used them extra points if you spend x amount and the double points coupon last week (as were lots of other people who were in the same queue as me)
:j Bought all my presents for this year (birthday and Christmas) now starting on next years!!:j
