EDF Energy GAS BILL Please suggest

Options
Hi All,

Its a long story, please help suggest me on this. I had struggled a lot intially to find out my supplier as I have not given any info from my landlord. Atlast I felt into the hands of EDF Energy. On one fine morning they send across a bill which shows a figure of 650 Pounds. I spoke to them and written a covering letter and faxed my rental agreement and the reading given by my landlord. At last they agreed to send a bill for different amount. After couple of days I received a bill of 250 pounds and again I was amazed. I clearly explained the total situation and the total units consumed are 250 units and atlast agreed to make it as the starting reading and waive whole bill. Again recently when I had provided the reading for Electric meter I had given the gas reading aswell, suddenly they send across both the bills. Now one more shock again they send me a gas bill of 215 pounds. After all such a big mess and chasings they agreed for cancellation as the calculations were not proper earlier. But today I spoke to the customer services they are saying that I have to pay this 215 pounds for around 250 units which I consumed. The calculation of KWH is in a different break downs from january 2006 to till date.

The total KWH on the bill is : 8150 (for only 248 units)

We are two and its a single bedroom flat and we only use heating occasionally in the evening and morning for two hours.

Could you please suggest me on this whether the bill I received is OK, are I have to ask for any concession in this.

Regards

Jumbo

You presumably have an Imperial Gas Meter(i.e measures in cubic feet). The value of 1 unit on an Imperial meter is approx 32 - 33 kWh(can vary according to calorific value)

Thus 248 units equates to 7936 to 8184 kWh so 8150 is about right. 8000 kWh for 8 months use is pretty light, and £215 is about right.

You need to check if you have an Imperial meter(it normally will have cu ft written on the dial, and often have circular dials) If you have the more modern Metric meter( measures in Cubic metres and has M3 wtitten of it) your kWh figure will be a lot less.
