Where's the best place to stay in the Benidorm region?

We are a family of six who are looking to visit Benidorm next year (won over by the cheap and frequent flights to Alicante ;)).
We are planning to book a villa but I have no idea which area to book it in as none of us have ever been to the area before
Our requirements are:

Somewhere where a car is not needed (near to ameneties/beach/nightlife etc)
Plenty of 'Englishy' things (we will have four children with us so it will be quite stressful if everything is unfamiliar)
Touristy but away from the singles crowds, stag/hen groups etc
Near to places that run kids activities

The children will be aged 15, 12, 11 and 3 next year and we will need to be well placed for activities to keep them amused.
We would like to be close-ish to the nightlife (walking distance or short cab ride) but we are not really drinkers and we will have our posse of kids with us so will not be out til the wee hours ;)

HELP!!! :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

    Hi mate

Probably best to look at hiring a private villa in the Lavante area which would probably mean one of the bungalows on the right of Avda L´Armella de Mar - somewhere like Calle de Musco, de Hasburgo, de Polonia or Calle de Romania (That sort of area, if you check out google maps). Across from The Melia, Levante Hotel/Spa and Hotel Flamingo Oasis.

Or you could check out the Gemelos22 apt blocks just down from the Melia as there are some nice 3 bedroom apts in that complex but you need to book them early to secure them if you're considering peak season and its a great place for families with mostly British/Dutch and Spanish guests (many of whom actually own the apts).

But this general area of Lavante is close enough to the beach (6/10 mins) with loads of English bars but quiet enough at night for the kids, close to Benidorm Palace and Aqualandia (but with kids you would still get the cheap bus or Drive as its uphill) and 10/15 mins drive to Terramitica. The Triangle area has several English pubs that cater really well for British folk (Vincents Pubs chain) but plenty of Spanish Resturants close by also.

As delwynsholidaydeals has suggested most private villas would be out in Finestrat or round in Albir and while these are gorgeous area's are not within walking distance of what most people think of when they plan on spending their nights at the typical British Benidorm, great resort area's for kids but 12/15 mins drive away from the lively nightlife.

It depends on what you're after. :)

Have been going since 99 sometimes 3 times a year, sister has just bought a place in Turkey which we "just have to try" :( wish I didn't have to wait till Sept till we get to Beni again.

Hope thats of some help. :)

Thanks everyone, that's very helpful information :)
We really do need to be within walking distance of everything because hubby doesn't want to drive abroad and we have four children with us so public transport can be a bit of a pain.
Anybody know of any villa companies that have a selection of properties in the locations mentioned above? I've had a look but couldn't find many that were within walking distance of the main tourist area...

EDIT: Just to add that we are not really party goers but we would like to have a selection of English bars and restaurants available to us as well as some Spanish ones. The main reason we really need to be close to the more touristy areas is really because we will have the kids with us, one of whom will be nearly 16 at the time of travel so I need to make sure that they won't be bored :)

Calypso hotel, Playa Levante is the best end of town. Short 3min walk to beach, entertainment on doorstep and plenty to do.

Just returned from 4 days in cala finestrat, the magic monika all inclusive hotel. All i can say is fantastic, wonderful food, lovely comfy 1 bedroomed apartments, great pool and all for less than £100 each for 3 nights.

Levante is the best end of Benidorm for what you want .Near to beach ,Near to Aqualandia ,Near to Mundamar ,Near to Pubs but far enough away to be quiet if you go up hill a touch ,as been mentioned look on google maps

    Thanks guys :)
It's one of those situations where it's easy to find stuff if you know what you are looking for. I'm going into this totally 'blind' so I need as much help as possible.
Keep the advice coming - I'm going to look into everyone's suggestions over the next few days :)

This is a good site for info

Best thing to do is have a look round yourself then post back here where and someone will say yes or no
As been mentioned though the Levante / Rincon De Loix is the best end to be for you
    Have a nice day :)
