Hi,
I have been suffering from severe back pain for several months now, managed to finally get referred to consultant, and x rays have shown disc damage.
I had an MRI last week and have started fortnighly physio.
I was advised by my employers that ssp was running out, and to apply for ESA.
I applied over the phone on 8th June and on thursday of last week I had a letter to say I was eligible for National Insurance Contributions element of ESA around £65.45 per week and payments would be made every 2 weeks.
They also sent me a giro for £37.40 for the period of 08/06/10-11/06/10.
They asked me to send a sick note, which doctor has given me for 8 weeks date 07/06/10, they also asked for 5 weeks worth of my partners payslips.
I was hanging on for another payslip to arrive before sending everything of as the letter stated we must have these documents by 05/07/10.
I have received a letter today dated 15/06/10 saying that the medical certificate I sent them-(I only posted it today so they don't have any yet) for the period of 08/06/10-14/06/10 is due to run out, and to send another by 15/06/10 which is the date the letter was posted.
It stated if I do not send another medical cert payment will be stopped or suspended.
I rang the helpline and the girl just said not to worry, however I am very worried as on my reckoning I am due a 2 week payment this friday, which I am now worried I am not going to get.
Has anyone got any experience of ESA-will my payment be stopped?
Thanks for any help anyone can provide

Ignore the letter, its abysmaly worded, hopefully they will get them improved somewhere down the line.
I doubt you will get a payment this Friday however. The sickline would need to have been with them today in order for them to have had time to input it onto the system. They might get it tomorrow but I doubt they will get it on the system given the amount that are sent in.
The claim wont be suspended though.0 -
Thanks for your reply NASA.
Its the first time I've claimed ESA, so wasn't sure what was going to happen.
I realise that if the sick line is received tomorrow, then chances are it'll be too late to process a payment for friday.
Will the payment be put in the bank at a later date, or will a giro be sent?
Many Thanks for your help0 -
I would imagine it will go into the bank account if you have given them those details. Probably start to middle of next week.0

I get the same letter, send out way too late for you to get a sicknote back in time. Still got paid though0

Thanks for both your help.
I'll keep my fingers crossed I might still get a payment!0
