Hi,
Are there any websites where I can advertise my house for free, I would just like to try this out for a while before handing the property over to the estate agent.
Thanks

 Well aint funny how its the little things in life that mean the most? Not where you live, the car you drive or the price tag on your clothes.
Theres no dollar sign on piece of mind
This Ive come to know...
So if you agree have a drink with me, raise your glasses for a toast :beer:0 -
Thanks lynzpower, I have registered and advertised my property and got the ‘hold til sold’.
Just need to put the photos on now
Do you know if this is a popular website and if anyone had any response from it.

I reported this on here ( must be pages away now!) a week or so back
its been on london tonight, and I found out about it through a ad/article about it in the Sun:beer: Well aint funny how its the little things in life that mean the most? Not where you live, the car you drive or the price tag on your clothes.

The website seem’s very new as only has 170 properties all on one page and no search by area facility etc.
It’s okay for sellers to advertise free but how would the buyer know about the website.

I have found the Sun article on the internet…

Sell a home for £20 fee
A NEW website is giving home sellers the chance to save thousands of pounds on estate agents’ fees.
Cut The Middleman will cost you just £20 to register a property for sale for one month, with a maxium charge of £120 to register it until it is sold.
The service will be free to anyone using the site until October 17.
Helen Probert, the site’s creator said: “A £300,000 property sold through an estate agent could set you back £4,500 simply due to the standard 1.5 per cent commission.”
It takes only a few minutes to register with cutthemiddleman.co.uk. To view a home, potential buyers simply click on the property that interests them and call up a page of information. You see colour photos and descriptions of each room, complete with dimensions. Outside space is also described.
Helen added: “The property market is so expensive CTM can actually help people to be able to afford properties they may not be able to buy if they were using an estate agent to sell their home.”0 -
https://www.gumtree.com, also a section in ebay which can be cheaper than the agents fee. A word of caution however, as the valuation will be done "cold" (ie without the assistance of the selling agent) in the event of a sale it may get downvalued to lower than you anticipated saving made. Happened to me a couple of times.0

If you're in London, I've found Gumtree to be excellent. It doesn't seem to have enough users elsewhere though.0

Re: availablehouse.co.uk
Dunno about the deep south, but the sense of geography displayed by this site for my area (Cheshire) is APPALLING!!! As is their spelling (Chesire).
I was going to give it a try, but won't now bother.0 -
As I've said before about advertising on 'free' websites - what do you expect to achieve?
If you pay nothing, you will get....what?
Why do you think these sites are free?
Hotuk wants to "...try this out for a while before handing the property over to the estate agent....", which pretty much means a self-fulfilling prophecy of failure and disappointment.
If you use a free service which has no effective means of marketing your property, then it is not likely that you will regard internet selling as worthwhile and this will simply prove it to you.
However, if you were to research the commercial services out there which have been established for many years and do work, which yet *charge* for their service (meaning that they can provide an effective level of marketing) you may well find that you won't need that agent after all.
If you want to sell privately and avoid estate agents fees, you have to take responsibility for the marketing and put in some effort. You won't achieve savings for nothing.0 -
I've used this site (with which I have no connection) for my last two sales, got quite a few enquiries from it, and actually sold through it on the first occasion:
