So just out of interest, had you have been sending a box with a plastic container of dye in, what would you have sent it in if a bubble wrapped envelope is not enough? Thanks for the information.

I would have put them in a stiff box
i usually 'reinforce' the box with a generous lashing of brown tape
My packaging tends to be belt and braces. It may not always look pretty but i have never had a claim for being broken in transit
just imagine your envelope at the bottom of one of those trolleys
even with a load of similar packets on top it becomes many KG's pressing down
then when being hand sorted it has to be able to survice being grabbed from that trolley and put into a drop bag or another trolley
people tend ot have a rose tinted view on package handling,in reality its a time pressurised duty and requires fast sorting

I occasionally sell small collectable items (some are actually metal but could get knocked). I either use a soap tablet box as Jaynemarie has already sugegeted, or any similair and strong box , never a cereal box as that is too thin. Alternatively for larger items I break a big fruit box and actually make my own box up, stuff it with bubble wrap, peanuts or shredded paper (watch paper as it is heavy) and then wrap it in a plastic outer.

I like salted but out of interest did you know that the 'plastic' looking peanuts are often actually made of a wheat starch and therefore not gluten free? I only know that as apparently there was an issue with them being used at a nursery school as they were considered safe as they dissolve if a child put them in their mouth, but they forgot about the coeliac children.

That explains why nuts say Gluten free. I always thought they were being silly.

Talking of silly things I only realised the other day that Rice Crispies are made of Rice !! DOH!! I know the clues in the name. I just thought it was a name and the were wheat based. 41 years old a degree and a PHD and i'm still rather stupid and miss the most obvious of things.

Rice krispies are not gluten free though as they have Barley in them :(

Back on topic, OP, how are things with the buyer now, are they happy?
