Am I entitled to anything or am I too young? confused

Well basically I am 23 years old and have been unemployed for a few months after my work closed down. I had my own flat etc before but have had to move back in with my parents due to losing my job.
I've been finding it impossible to get a job the last few months as there are so little in my area, I finally managed to get one but it's only part-time, working on average 14 hours a week, the pays pretty decent so I'm coming away with about 400 a month.
In my area a 1 bedroom flat is about 300 a month to rent, I really want to move out of my home but obviously can't afford it. Finding one job was hard so it's going to be very difficuilt to find a second one to supplement my income.
If I wanted to move out would I be entitled to any sort of housing benefit etc?
Also I live in Scotland if that changes anything.

Not really benefits advice but may be helpful for you all the same.
Are you able to rent with a friend/live in a houseshare?
£400 seems pretty tight to cover utilities, travel, food, build up some emergency savings for eventualities etc even if you managed to get rent/some council tax covered0 -
I don't understand why you are in such a hurry to move out! My eldest is 21, out of uni and just working his first full time job. While living at home and paying £20 per week room and board, he is able to save about £800 per month - after paintballing, buying a bike for to and from work transport, new work clothes etc. I'm actually quite pleased that he has been this good with his budget but still allowing some fun. If your parents are prepared to have you stay at home - it's a great opportunity to save up some money, so that when you do move out, you will actually not have to live pay cheque to pay cheque, get yourself in debt. Earning £400 per month, at your age, and even if you did get housing benefit - you've got costs of transport to and from work, utilities, clothing, food.......council tax....so even if you got housing benefit, could you afford to move out?
Independence is a great thing - but even so much better when you've prepared for it.0 -
I don't like living back home after having had my own flat in the past, my mum now lives with her partner and I feel a little bit in the way. I'm not to bothered about being a little bit hard up as i'm used to living on benefits for the past few months. Just wondered if I was entitled to anything.Won since August...

It must be hard as you have had independence and had to return to your parents house. We dont know anything of the circumstances, whether he has his own room, whether it is overcrowded etc. TBH i dont know the answer to your question but could you approach the housing department of your local council and ask them that question? Well done on finding a job. Hopefully it will lead to bigger and better things.
Sorry just cross posted with you regarding your circumstances.I must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer.
Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration.
I will face my fear. I will permit it to pass over and through me. When it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path.
When the fear has gone there will be nothing. Only I will remain.0 -
Those under the age of 25 are usually entitled only to a shared room rate. See the LHA direct website to get to grips with what the LHA maximum rate is for you in your local area. Then put the info into the Entitled to website to see what you may be eligible to receive.
You've missed out quite basic major expenses like council tax, energy bills, travel, groceries, telecoms, broadband, TV, insurance and so forth. Download the Budget Planner on the tools section to get a grip on your total likely living costs.0 -
You can claim LHA at the shared accommodation rate and look up the applicable amount on here, although you won't get it all paid.

As there is so little work in your area, why not look more widely and move out when you have found more substantial work.0 -
