No gas supply to new flat

Hi all
I'm in the process of buying a flat (well, top half of a maisonette), which only has electric storage heaters and no gas supply. The flat below does have gas.
Does anyone have any idea of how much it costs to get gas supplied into the flat? Presumably the pipes don't have to go very far if it's in the flat downstairs...

Hi lorelei lou - For a maisonette to have a gas service to the ground floor, but not the second is pretty unusual
The easiest explanation is that the ground floor occupants discarded ECO 7 heating and installed a gas supply.
Now if the service pipe from the street in of a big enough guage to supply both properties, you should be able to get gas in at not too higher cost - If the gas pipe is not big enough I'm afraid it's BIG BUCKS
It is just possible that both properties were built with a gas supply, but the first owners of the top floor did not want gas and opted for electric ECO7 - have good look around the kitchen to see if there are any capped-off pipes.0 -
Thanks for the information
dogshome- the downstairs flat had gas put in, originally they had storage heaters too. I'm hoping the pipe to that flat is a big enough guage!0
