They are a lot better than they used to be - They used to be really expensive it cost loads to watch tv and then you paid for games and interenet as well
Still too expensive and I would love to go back to when single rooms had a nice free tv in them but im afraid there here to stay so we either get ripped off and use them or try and get to the day room to watch something
I still think there a soul sucking company but dont appear to be making much of a profit so hopefully they will go bust one day and some other company can take over the buisness charge a decent price and have more people using themNeeding to lose weight start date 26 December 2011 current loss 60 pound Down. Hi I read the first 4 pages of this topic, and have to say, I agree with most things, but im an ex Patientline employee so I know how terrible they are.
Endless quotas, minimum wage Human Resources staff who treated me and others like we were really stupid, and even accused me of fraud when I filled in timesheet wrong way round(correct amount of hours but put wrong days in) and was threatened with getting sacked etc.
There was a group of senior call staff, who never did any work, and if we had any competitions, whoever donated the prize's partner got it(they were all dating each other)
I got fed up with the constant abuse from customers who blamed me for patientline, got swore at, threatened, "sued" etc.
Just remember about all the little staff members who are overworked, same for hospital Patientline staff, 2 staff members for 1 hospital, blame the company not the staff lol.
EDIT noticed the other staff posting.
Working night in? there is only 2 staff after midnight on call centre duty.0 -
Patients might also like to know that they send staff onto wards with passes to open all locked doors and get in and out of maternity wards and childrens wards as well as the others normal wards before the staffs CRB checks have come through.0

Perhaps a patientline staff member can tell me why you can't turn the TV off? My friend was in hospital and apart from the normal hospital noises etc. he found he could not turn the screen off. If you do it comes back on again.Torgwen..........

You can turn the tv's off, they come back on in the morning at around 7am, well they do in Bolton, but just make sure you've turned the volume down before you go to sleep, otherwise it comes back on at full volume.
We're constantly getting asked questions about the units, I'm a nurse, not an engineer, so for all the complaints we get about them, I would take a sledge hammer to the tv units!0 -
If possible, don't buy the vouchers, top up by debit card instead. You can then ring them when you get home and have any unused credit refunded to your card.
Nooooo
My late mother did this when I had my 2nd daughter 6 yrs ago, they were still trying to take payments off her credit card 3 months after I had left hospital. Bear in mind that a week after DD2 was born my mother DIED!The "Bloodlust" Clique - Morally equal to all. Member 10

I agree that Patientline are providing a service that people don't have to use.
Except in some hospital where patient line is installed, the ward clerk will no longer take messages from concerned family, they just give out the patientline number. The "Bloodlust" Clique - Morally equal to all. Member 10

I'm sorry for what happened to your mother but I've never ever heard of anything like this. Perhaps 6 years ago it was different but I can guarantee paying with a debit or credit card is the easiest and cheapest way to do it.
Oh, and I understand why you are making the jump, but if a ward clerk won't pass messages on etc then it's hardly Patientline's fault is it?0 -

It is when it is part of the contract between the hospital and patientline. (step FIL is a ward clerk)The "Bloodlust" Clique - Morally equal to all. Member 10
