Quick question about Employment Support Allowence

Basically, can it be backdated?

I'm trying to help someone who has been unable to claim this, ironically enough due to ill-health, so has been left without any income whatsoever for several weeks.

Cheers in advance.

You can backdate the claim for 3 months, providing they have a medical certificate for the same period.

that is good for us too, hubby made redundant and was going to sign on JSA for first time ever, first day out of job ended up being taken into hospital and kept there for a week (ulcer!), got out last week but still not feeling well enough to work. Going to get a line from doc for a couple of weeks so does that mean they will backdate to when he was taken into hospital

Again, so long as there is medical evidence there, it can be backdated.

The hospital could have provided a Med10.
