Shower over the bath or shower cubicle?

Hi
We are having a combi boiler fitted and placed in the loft meaning that our airing cupboard is now going to be redundant as the hot water tank will be removed.
We have 2 choices:
1) To use the airing cupboard as storage space and have a thermostatic shower placed over the bath with a shower screen. (cheaper option)
or...
2) Fit a shower cubicle in the airing cupboard space. It will only allow for a 750 X 750 shower tray with a thermostatic shower and either tile in the cubicle or use water proof boarding. The shower cubicle will have 3 walls and just the shower screen door.
The difference in cost is about £800 and my question is would it be worth it considering that the space is not massive in the airing cupboard?
Thanks in Advance

shower definitely. I'm looking to move at the moment and for me a seperate shower is an excellent selling point.0

a small shower may iritate you after a while - dark with 3 walls and small.
However as said before, a good selling point.
So at the end of the day, lifestyle or property value?0 -
So are you going to completey remove the airing cupboard out of the bathroom? if so why not tile the walls and put one panel and a door up as the cubicle, this would be the best bet0

Good idea. Extend the size of the bathroom, then you have room for a shower.0 -
Sorry for not been clear. The plan would be to tile or board the inside of the airing cupboard and having a cubicle door.
I was just concerned about the size (750x750) and the fact that 3 of the walls will be tiled = little light.
Pulling out the whole thing wouldnt really create any more space and would mean the shower panel would jut up against the bath.0 -

Can you not just knock the airing cupboard walls down completely to just leave you with the corner of the bathroom?0 -
Could do this, but we have got a tiled side to the airing cupboard and was hoping to avoid doing this, however, it may be the best option.0

I think this would be by far the best option especially thinking about resale value, more light etc in the shower and bigger shower tray possibly0 -
I agree. Otherwise, even with a glass door, that could feel really claustrophobic. It could also pose problems with waterproofing. You might be able to get a shower cabinet that would fit into the area and avoid having to re-tile, but that might be more expensive still.0

Having been to a few B&B's where there were these horrible little shower cubicles, I wouldn't have one in the house. Incidentaly, most of the ones I've seen on my shopping trips to France are at least half as big again, so you can at least move a little. Ours are like strait jackets, how can anyone shower properly. Reminds me of those deep sleep thingys that you see in sci-fi films, where the crew are zonked out for months at a time! Even Kate Moss would have problems if she dropped the soap.0
