I have connected my Samsung VP-D65 Digi-cam to my Toshiba laptop (running Vista home premium) via 4 pin to 4 pin firewire. The pc recognises the digi-cam and rewinds/switches it on but then asks if the tape is blank. The tape is fine, I can watch it on the digi-cam screen. I have tried using 2 diff transfer programs, ie Uleads DVD Movie Factory 5 for Toshiba and another built into Windows to no avail. What can I try?

Can you see the camcorder under My computer? If you can may be easiest to look through the files and copy and paste them - they may be hidden (although unlikely).0

I have problems sometimes when using windows vista to download videos. Try rebooting and using the the windows movie maker in vista to download this way. For some reason it sometimes comes in above our Adobe Premier.
On XP it does not!0
