FORMULE 1 HOTEL on Ponteland road, Newcastle, is cheap - doing rooms for £20 a night if you book in advance. It is just outside Newcastle and is right next a Metro train station, or you could get a taxi into town for a fiver. You can contact them on: 0191 271 6405!"£$%^&*()0

hi hoggy
I visited one of these in france a few years ago and they were very much the economy basic rooms - but they are clean. The toilet and shower rooms were shared and they were like the public toilets that lock up and self clean after every use. Try this link for diections etc.

If you're going to go via Metro, the train goes direct from town then you get off at Kingston Park station - but be warned that there is quite an uphill walk to the hotel from there.
hope this helps
