    Yes and a maybe.

All my ceilings are papered, in this house and the last two I owned.
If you can paper a wall you can paper a ceiling

But you need to work out a safe , correct height working platform. Two scaffolding planks and a couple of workmates set low works for me.

    Thanks.

Don't think I have ever seen ... ceiling paper.

I just use a small embossed paper. On rougher ceilings have used a 'bolder' embossed paper.

Get ready to learn some new swear words, I did when I papered my boys bedroom ceiling ;)

Good advice above re having the correct setup with scaffold planks, i used a set of step ladders on one side and a chair on the other, lost count of the amount of times I would push the second part of paper up to the ceiling only for the first part to start coming away from the ceiling and it all to fall on the floor, very frustrating job!!

When I first started got my wife to stand behind me holding the paper (above my head), this was a great help.

If you want a flat ceiling then go with lining paper, they do it in different grades of thickness.
if our going for a embossed paper, then dont buy the cheapo type, (with no backing), as when you roll over the butt joins, it will flatten them, so you will see flat lines all through the paper.
Graham&brown do fantastic paper, its a dream to hang on ceilings, or you can get cheaper versions from the diy stores.

Hang your first length starting at the window, working away from the window.
Let each length soak for approx 5-8 mins before hanging, fold your paper like a concertina then let it soak on the table, when ready to hang, pick the paper up, but grap the concertina edges, and as your hanging it, let go each concertina end a bit at a time whilst your smoothing/hanging.
