Sygate On demand agent and IE

Options
hello,
I come asking for esteemed advice.
To access my work emails etc I have to go through the Sygate On Demand Agent.
Unforunately i was told by our IT dept that this would only run on IE 6. So I kept uninstalling IE on my laptop until I got back to IE6.
For a while this was reasonably successful. Occasionally I would have a nightmare logging in - taking several attampts before i made it through.
Now, however I can't get in at all. Everytime DEP shuts it down. I'm not sure what it is objecting to, the IE, Sygate or maybe Java? Following some advice i did try and exclude IE from DEP but that didn't work and I don't know what else to do.
My IT dept aren't much use at all.
And is it true that it will only work on IE 6 or can I work it some other way?
this is the web address I log in with

Thanks

Appears to run on IE7 here. Although I'm at work so didn't actually go through with the Java install. Didn't look as if it would be an issue though. Will try on IE8 when I get home for you.
