Access to house for measuring up after exchange

Hi everyone

I had a very quick question - we are due to exchange end of today and complete next Wednesday. I was thinking of asking the EA to ask the vendor if they would mind if we had a carpet fitter go round to measure up before we complete, to save us time.

However is it advisable to ask this after exchange, or should I just ask now?

Thanks!

My vendor rang 30 mins after exchange on friday and is coming around tonight to measure before completion next week!

I'd ask after exchange as a favour, if you ask before your solicitor might try and make it part of the contract. Do the people live there or is it vacant? They might say no, but I wouldn't have thought so
