Mobile Broadband In The USA

Options
Travelling to the USA in the near future.

I have a 3G dongle with 3 which will allow me to roam my internet connection. But it will cost approx £5 per MB.

No worth in in my opinion.

Does anyone have experience of picking up a PAYG Broadband dongle in the US cheap and where I could get it from.

Had a bit of a google and found a few places but they seem to be in the £30-£50 region.

As I paid postage only for my dongle here I wanted to source something cheap over there.

Can live without it but it would be useful to check park hours etc online in the evenings.

Mobile data isn't cheap in the US, they just don't have the same market set up that we do. My friends over there are amazed at the mobile broadband availability over here. For example, a monthly usage plan from Verizon costs $189 for the dongle, plus $60 for 5GB of data.

I always rely on wi-fi hotspots over there, a lot of coffee shops etc have them, as well as McDonalds.

Sounds like that might be what I need to do.

Shame really as we have the laptop out there for storing photo's etc so would have been useful.

Amazing that the way US are market leaders on internet etc they have not cottened on to the idea of Mobile broadband.

    Thanks all.

Well they certainly used to be in regards to availability.

    I stand corrected though.
