I ssem to have some settings incorrect on my laptop and i cant seemt to find out whats wrong.
whenever i try to play music etc -there is an awful screeching sound - does this meant that my speakers are broken, or is it to do with settings?

Excluding hardware failure, could be a naffed up codec of some sort.
Test out the speaker settings first, also when your in sounds in control panel make sure the correct output devices are specified within the relevant drop downs.
Right click my computer - manage - device manager. Look for any expanded entries for sound / codecs.
Try downloading Windows Essentials Codec Pack and installing that. Make sure you do a Windows update and your computer isn't missing any relevant drivers.Owner of andrewhope.co.uk, hate cars and love them
