Parking near Paris, help please!

Hi,
Myself and my family are travelling to France next week (Friday) we want to spend the day in Paris before travelling on further South for a longer holiday.
We have driven to France several times and have negotiated the Boulevard Periphique on our way further South but don't really want to drive into Paris itself. We would rather park in a car park on the outskirts and then get into and around Paris on public Transport. Does anyone know of any suitable places which will not take us far from our route around Paris (we're going from Calais to Orleans initially) but have public transport nearby?
I would be really grateful for any information at all.
