If your Mum had the other bag then get that off her and take back to customer services, The potatoes at the moment are al stored product from last years crop, there will be some problems but the suppliers do tests for cooking them as part of the quality control.
£2 is best off in your pocket than Asda !
As for the poster who said cheap place cheap product that is is BS, lots of supermarkets take the same product same producers but run a different size or in many cases a smaller profit margin !
If you have no packaging I would still go and complain !
I agree, Ive just boiled Tesco's cheapest potatoes and they produced lovely mash, maybe it was just a bad batch but Im sure they would want to know about it.2008£3002009£13002010£15002011£41952012£21942013£1494

AND....... of course the vast majority of potatoes that are sold in the UK are not grown for their flavour, roasting capabilities, mashing capabilities or anything else so awkward............they are grown for the heavy crop of identical looking, long keeping, same shaped objects that the supermarkets try and pass off as "potatoes" !!0

What variety? That's the key question.
If you want the best mash or creamed potato, then nothing but King Edwards will do. Most of these 'general purpose' or 'all round' potatoes are nothing of the sort.
That said, there's no doubt that the overall quality has gone down over the years. I suspect this tallies with GM and intensive breeding."Never underestimate the mindless force of a government bureaucracyseeking to expand its power, dominion and budget"Jay Stanley, American Civil Liberties Union.0 -
