Options
Hi

Can anyone recommend a locksmith in the West Midlands/Birmingham area?

My UPVC front door lock is playing up.

Thanks

When I put my key in to lock the door, I can't take the key out. I have to turn the key back another turn and then the locks protrude so I can't shut the door. I then have to take the key out and go on the other side of the door and turn it so the locks go back in, close the door and then turn it to lock it. Then I have to turn the key again slightly in order to pull the key back out.

Try Nigel Tolley: ICL Certified Locksmith He will get you sorted or point you in the right direction.

If you read this before tomorrow it may save you alot of money!!

The problem you are describing is identical to the problem I had a while back (if you do a search on my name you may well find it).

It was a simple job of changing the barrel - trust me! It cost be no more than £10 for a new barrel and I have ZERO DIY skills! :rotfl:

It is a very quick and easy job.

    Thank you both so much.

I have taken the old barrel out and measured it and it is 400mm then 500mm.

Just need to get a new barrel now and I will be away.

You are both my knights in shining armour.

Yes TJ - I do mean a 40/50. I got carried away that I was actually able to follow the video and managed to get the lock out and back in :) I am not one for diy :o but I will have a go.

I will just add; be careful with the measurements as some lock suppliers measure the center cam aswell.
i ordered a 40/40 lock from Wolverhampton locksmiths when it arrived it was actually a 35/35 and the other 10mm was the center cam measurement.
