I've got a Packard Bell IXTREME x6618 which has Intel Core2 Quad Q8200 operating on Vista. 4Gb RAM 64 bit operating
Its just over a year old. It also has McAfee anti-virus
Whenever I play a game, it crashes, actually switches off (it has a powersave thing plugged into it). So I'm not sure if this has anything to do with it.
There are no error messages or telltale signs before it crashes. If you can imagine using a PC when there's a power cut, its like that - no warnings.
Its getting me down.
I'm not very computer savvy, so I want any advice which is simple to understand.

Download coretemp - http://www.alcpu.com/CoreTemp/ then with it running you can see your cpu temps. Start to play the game -see how temp. changes.
Instead of gaming you could d/load orthos - http://www.overclock.net/downloads/138142-orthos.html - link in first post.
This will tell if overheat is problem. Run small fft's stress cpu and watch the temps!!0 -
