I didn't set my buyer prefs to noone under 0 feedback {i've nearly 300 and never had a problem before} and now wish i had.
I had my Ipod Touch and BIN and auction...had an email to say it sold with BIN today but I was at my mums and couldnt checked my mail properly {phone dying}
Anyway I check tonight and the buyer has 0 feedback and they only reg's today
When I had the email notification {requesting total} the message they sent was 'Hello seller please get back at me ASAP regarding the present condition of this item and your paypal account email for me to make payment ASAP email me at ********'
Now I replied saying that the description is stated on the listing with pics! this sent alarm bells.
SO do you think I have been done and would I get the fees back if it proves he has no intention of paying etc?
thanks

I don't use Ebay and even with the little info you give I know it's a scam.
You will be offered over the price you sent. They will send you a cheque for more than the value of the Ipod and ask you to use the difference to send money to their shipment agent.
By the time you realise the cheque you receive is a dud they will have your Ipod and the money you sent.0 -

Just refer them to complete the 'Send Payment' option through eBay to Paypal, where they will find your Paypal address linked to your eBay account.
Once payment has been made, i would close all the browsers down and login to Paypal.com and check that it has been paid, and then check that under 'Details' that your are protected for 'Seller Protection'.
If this is so, then ship to the address within Paypal, and obtain a receipt for postage. So not just the slip you get, but actually send the item through Registered or Special Delivery. You will need the tracking number for any eBay/Paypal disputes for proof of delivery.
I would not worry about the (0) feedback, someone has to start somewhere..

Not quite as the scammers don't use cheques any more. The OP will get an email supposedly from paypal saying that the buyer has paid xx amount and the funds will be released as soon as the seller sends the tracking details.
OP, you can't block buyers with zero feedback so you couldn't have stopped this one at all unless you blocked anyone without a card registered *and* less than 5 feedback.
Just send them the usual invoice, if you get paid check it actualyl is in paypal, ignore any emails. Then check that you have full seller protection before you send it fully tracked and with sufficient insurance. Obviously if there is no payment in paypal then let ebay know it is a scam, if they don't make any attempt at payment after 4 days just start an NPB.
For future reference if you are doing BINs on easily scammed items always make it immediate payment required.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. Like I said I don't use Ebay.
But I bow to your superior knowledge..:T
Meant seriously as I have seen a few of your posts, and have asked where you were on other threads..0 -

Sorry, I didn't mean it to sound harsh I forget how language can be misunderstood when typed, especially when I am tired.
Yes basically the scam is as you say but moved on from cheques to paypal now. Cheques are no longer the scammers friend as I don't think they could con as many people as they used to as people had learnt to mistrust cheques at last ...just as they made them safer! You do still see th eodd cheque scam, usualyl with cars but it relies on some very very quick work on the part of the scumbag scammer.
If it isn't an ebay one then paypal is often replaced by a bank transfer scam. Exactly the same as you have outlined but the seller gets a fake email from 'their bank' saying funds are ready to be deposited as soon as tracking details are supplied. People do still fall for that one unfortunately as they send the scammer their bank details (which is perfectly safe of course) but the scammers cna then rig up an email that looks fairly OK and refer to the victims details accurately, and the victim forgetting that they sent the details to the scammer in the first place believes it is from their bank as the bank account and sort code is correct .I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards.
