Hi all
I am about to move into my first house. In the bathroom there is a carpet, which I want to remove asap!
I think below this I am going to find floorboards, can anyone tell me, or post a link on how to cover this in vinyl floor tiles? (I am a complete DIY novice so dont fancy trying to lay real tiles!)
I have googled it and some website say I will need to lay plywood down first, but the only plywood I can find on homebase, wickes etc is called exterior plywood, is this what I will need?
DIY newbie so be kind
any advice greatly received!

exterior plywood is also called marine ply. used for boats and other wet areas.
you can use it in a bathroom but it can be a tad expensive.
ive use plain hardboard with no problems. much much cheaper.Get some gorm.0 -
Yes , but nail it down with small copper nails .
And use lots. Every 6 inches in all directions
i.e you will be using even in a small bathroom a bag full.0 -
For me its hardboard for vinyl sheet cushion flooring but certainly not for vinyl tiles especially if Karndean or Amtico. 6 or 9mm ply provides a much more stable substrate depending on the condition of the floorboards underneath. I think by "exterior" ply the sheds mean WBP (water and boil proof) and thats what you should use. If its OSB run a mile.
