OK, Just about to set out on this journey and wanted to see what people think?
We have a downstairs utility space that we plan on turning into a cloakroom, shower room and utility area with sink etc.
It is single brick with no heating at present.
Few things i wanted to check. Plan is to insulate by battoning the brick walls internally and then board over with the thermal plaster board. Is this suitable? We plan on bringing the ceiling down and doing simliar whilst insulating. THis is a flat roof that we will redo at the same time. Already have water and c/h pipework that was brough through when we didi up the house. There is space for a designer rad in the shower area but this is seperate to the utility space. If its big enough will it heat the whole room? Its not that big.
In terms of the wet area we were going to do a wet room, but think now its best to get a slimline tray. Can you just buy a shower door? As 3 sides will be tiled?
Am going to install a shower light with extractor but was thinking of doing this outside the shower cubicke as it were is this still ok? The door wont reach the ceiling so steam will be circulating in the entire space?
Sorry for long post but just trying to make sure we do things right.
